About Chasing Sunlight

A coming-of-age science fiction novel about growing up and growing apart.

Mori is a glowing half-alien who both eats and photosynthesizes, and Rosie's been his best friend since third grade. She was heartbroken when he moved to Metro Manila during senior high, so when Mori asks her to leave home and study with him in the big city, Rosie doesn't hesitate. It's partly for the adventure, partly because the scholarship she earned means Papa can finally retire from spacefaring, and partly (mostly) because it means being with Mori again.

Adjusting to university life is rough enough without the pressure of the scholarship: failure doesn't just mean leaving Manila, it means Papa stays in orbit for four more years. And on top of all that, something's up with Mori.

Rosie's known Mori so long she's basically memorized every flicker of his glow. But growing up together means growing feelings neither of them expected… and Rosie is starting to notice that Mori has changed, and he's hiding more from her than he's letting on.

About The Botanarian Series

Welcome to a space-age Philippines! It’s the 2220’s, and humanity shares the planet with Botanarians, plant-like aliens who photosynthesize, get drunk on coffee, and recharge under UV light. Two centuries after First Contact, the two species have built a life together: shared love and shared chaos, under a shared star.
